We’re back!

How time flies! After waiting so long being intimidated to post anything I decided to burst the bubble and say hey. I’ve painted and done other other things over the past many years, but we’ll catch up about that another day.

I had an art show at Hex Enduction records from May through the end of August of 2024! It was fantastic and so grateful for the support of Gabi and Dean there, they are awesome. Here are a few shots of show in case you missed it.

These were all (mostly watercolor) pieces I’ve worked on since 2017 and because of their size I haven’t found a home for them. They have been morning paint practices, collages of different pieces and projects over time. Most of them are little, but I framed them with thrifted and cheaper frames so they could stay affordable for customers and I could get them outta my hands. I am so grateful to have sold over $400 in tarot cards, printed cards, and original paintings!! I was able to donate $300 to Palestinian mutual aid funds, the European Roma Rights Centre, and the Seattle Duwamish Tribe.

If there are any pieces or tarot cards that you liked, dm me @camillesimoneart on IG, thru my site here, or camillesimonehere@gmail.com and I can get them to ya now!

I am excited to announce that I (along with my friend Atta!!) are showing our instant pictures at the Northwest Film Forum! It is a really cool space with some great polaroids and instant film pictures.

It was hard to choose between the hundreds of instax I have, but luckily I only have several scanned and de-fuzzed, so editing along with a deadline made it easy. I mostly chose double exposures because of their haunting effect and many people don’t know you can do that with certain fujifilm instax cameras. It is by far my favorite setting on my camera although I notice, some people get it and like it, and some just don’t see it and it looks like a blurry abstract image….but that’s my favorite part.

Handmade WATERCOLORS

I am excited to announce that I figured out how to make my own watercolors!!!….

I started a daily art challenge from Crush/Repeat starting from scratch as a curiosity!…I have always wanted some metallic and shimmer watercolors, but they are terribly pricey. After following some amazing small batch watercolor makers on social media I got super inspired and during our snowy season here in the PNW, I made a few recipes, mixed some colors, definitely failed and learned on a few, and took some video to share with you, too!

Here are some pictures of the process…

Once I figured out the binding liquid process I experimented with different pigments (other than mica) to make non-shimmer watercolors. It started out with yellow since I needed one anyways and couldn’t afford the tubes I wanted at the store.

I’ve tried using turmeric as a base with little success…but with these complementary colors I tried turmeric as a base (mixing with other pigments) again and it actually worked! I’m excited to use pigments that are more natural, cheaper, and easier on planet and our water sources.

Figured I’d show you some #instax and creative work I’ve been doing over 2018. While the time zoomed by consensus around me has agreed that this past year has been a tough one for a lot of us. I thought this candle was a perfect metaphor for how I felt, though I know 2019 isn’t looking any less challenging.

I am excited to be launching my shop this next week! This past year has been been fun working with linoleum and rubber blocks to create prints and stamps for myself, future paper and fabric goods.

I had no idea I liked the craft so much. I got these pieces of wood from my moms work (bin cut off’s), printed it on the top, and mounted it with good glue. I then put a glaze on top (which was successful sometimes..)…here’s a collection of personal…

Martha Shade: Observations from the Lost and Found

The Vanishing Kingdom-Martha Shade

The Vanishing Kingdom-Martha Shade

Hello!

I wanted to share with you an awesome experience and photography job I just had taking photos for a friend and amazing artist Martha Shade. She has been working hard on these embroideries and sculptures and is having her solo exhibition from October 4th through November 24th 2018 at ArtistXchange.

These embroidery pieces were such a feast for the eyes and had fun editing them to be as realistic in color as possible.

Here is where you can view her full catalogue and amazing sculptures too.

It was fun to see my name in the back and haven’t seen any of my photography published like this so that was cool.

However, I highly recommend viewing them in person! Her mosaic style embroidery adds a lot of depth and her artistic voice is really resonating with me. These pieces are connected with themes of loss, discovery, and observation presenting a cast of characters that are both enchanting and melancholy, blending global mythology with personal memory and contemporary social issues.

Greenwood Photography Show

Hellooo!

Walks with Glen Grunkman throughout Greenwood have yielded some fun nature photos when I bring my manual cameras along with me. These 4x6's are with my 35mm Nikon N90 SLR and the instax taken with my FujiFilm mini90 camera. All have been taken over the last 2 years while exploring the neighborhood.

New Year, More Tarot

Hello!

Thank you for coming to my site and blog. How has 2018 been for you?

For a few years now I have taken time off of social media to change my relationship with it and, what felt like, addiction to hearts or likes concerning my face or edited perspective. Now that social media is now more of a business tool and the selfies have died down, I find myself lax on keeping up with these tools and getting lazy.....( but howww??)

So this year, especially since creating has been an amazing unstoppable force, I am putting daily art I make onto my Instagram account. Despite having some of my lowest mental health times in these past few years, painting and creating has been an amazing meditative tool for me and am super grateful for that.

You can check out the random hobbies and projects I put out daily here.

Also, In January for the Cookie Counter's monthly Ice Cream Social, I got to read tarot for folks, focusing on self love, discovery and awareness through using these cards.

Doing readings surrounded by my art in my favorite place to eat! I tried to channel some wise witchy vibes for the readings and this Betsey Johnson chiffon I've had for over a decade was a perfect scarf!

15% of all sales for the evening went to @camptentrees to support their residential camping programs for LGBTQ+ youth & youth of LGBTQ+ families.

Hand painted and randomly picked Major Arcana cards for querent's to take home and do a private reading...with a door prize! Flip Books in back are Major Arcana images, hand painted bound, and mod podged by me.

The treats were amazing-donut sundaes, birthday cake ice cream, Jenny of @havenyogaseattle had a sweet body positivity/body image Q&A station and I loved meeting and getting to know querent's through tarot and over ice cream. I hope to do more readings in the future, practice my intuition and meet and guide people through their journeys!

Here are some more watercolored major arcana cards-I loved doing them.

Especially in this socio-political climate, i feel like there is so much static noise inhibiting and confusing us all. I feel like the lessons in these first 22 tarot cards could be important for all of us to be reminded and to help us all build empathy towards others when we all go through life cycles with similar themes.

Here are a few of my favorites I drew and packaged up into one of ^ those envelopes up there!

You can find the rest in my daily IG feed. Just go back a few weeks :)

There are still 8 envelopes for sale and along with the flip books are $12 each or 2/$20

Email or contact with questions or sale inquiries. I'm working on getting these up into my shop soon!

Thanks for reading and hope to chat with you soon!

Hey everyone!

The Cookie Counter is hosting their monthly Ice Cream Social tonight and I am really excited about this one! Employees are making homemade jewelry, embroidery, and I made tons paper, photo, and fabric goods!

6-9pm

7415 Greenwood Ave North

Along with all that I'll be having my photobooth again! I loved taking double exposures of folks in October for spooky portraits. This month, I say, why not give your face to someone you love? Photos are $5 and have colorful frames for $3 to round out a hella cute gift of yourself!

You can see some updates on items I've made on my Instagram page and hope to see ya there!

Thank you!

Thanks to everyone who came out to Last Friday's first monthly Ice Cream Social. Boy was it busy and fun. I've never gotten to take so many double exposures and seen so many cool shots of you all!

I took this when there was a little bit of standing room! I met so many cool people, and loved seeing everyone play board games.

For funsies, and because I love the major arcana, I watercolored some Artist Trading cards in the Major Arcana that I feel connected to. After I was done I wrote meanings on the back, wrapped them up, and waited for their future owners to randomly choose them! I love the idea of mystery items and thought this was a way to have a personalized reading, whenever you wanted to open it up. They went over fabulously! Atta sent me his, and think it really represented how our event went. We've been studying and prepping for awhile and are excited to do some events in the future together!

Would you like one for yourself? Missed out and want some Spooky portraits? Email me!

Did I mention that together with the Cookie Counter, we raised over a few hundred dollars for the Old Dog Haven?! RAD.

Hope to see you at the next Ice Cream Social in November where we will be celebrating everything Pie and Cook book related!

Face your Fears

I am excited to participate in the Seattle Cookie Counter's Ice Cream social!

This Friday October 20th, 2017

6-9pm

You can see the full event here:

https://www.facebook.com/events/489817514720831

But here's a more in depth look at what I'll be doing!

doubleself.jpg

My favorite type of instant images is double exposures and this time of year is the perfect time to express some of the creepy quality these images present. We all have different sides of ourselves. Let me capture yours!

For this event I want to tie in with our theme: Face your Fear

If you dress up for this event (OH PLEASE DO!)

I can take your halloween portrait, orrrrrrr....

Get one of these....

instaxde9final.jpg
spookyjess.jpg
kristennordicqueenfinal.jpg

Neat huh?

I'll have a twin peaks inspired red curtain, props, and hopefully yourself!

Portraits will be $5 each and 15% of all sales will be going to Old Dog Haven.

This goes for Atta's tarot readings as well!

He will help you face your fear and discover the source and tools to use against them.

IMG-0052.PNG

Can I share a personal example when we did a reading?

When I bake and make meals at home I love sharing food with friends and family. A fear of mine is to accidentally poison someone or cause them pain because of it.

My Source of Fear: Knight of Swords

My fear is sourced from my own history and experience with constant G.I. pain.

My experience of Fear: Justice

My experience of fear is one of false accusations. I fear poisoning others when I am more likely to poison myself.

How I can call my Fear's Bluff: Seven of Pentacles

There is sorrow as I acknowledge my present reality. I am more aware of the potential to poison others than I am myself. The way to call my fear's bluff is by taking stock of my current health. While it may not be where it once was, it is though self care that I will diminish my fear.

Mantra: I will call my fears bluff by looking after my own health.

.....Kinda neat, right?

This is my example of a fear, but what is yours?

I love digging into self and using tarot cards as tools for self awareness and empathy. They have made a true difference in my life and mental health the last few years. By understanding ourselves we can understand events and others around us.

My favorite part of this event is the takeaways!

You can take home limited edition treats made by Chelsea at the cookie Counter, an instant picture of yourself, a typed out mantra (from a type writer!) of how to face your fear. There's even going to be boardgames to play with old friends or new!

Hope to see ya there!

Ice Cream and Sweets

You guys. This last friday I put up my first art show everrrr! Also in one of my favorite spaces, the Seattle Cookie Counter.

While working for Chelsea in 2015, I got some shots of her ice cream and pies and I loved the shots! When I got that drip off the ice cream cone...it might just be my favorite shot I've ever done.
